Welcome to another Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by Jana of That Artsy Reading Girl! This is a weekly fun discussion where we’re given a topic to discuss ten of whatever (usually) bookish things fits that list for that week.

Happy birthday to me! *confetti* Today’s my birthday, and I’m not really doing much for it (that I know of as I’m writing this post), but I will talk about the book series I want to catch up on as well as series I want to start.

I’m going to split this list in half where the first five in the list are series I want to catch up on, while the latter half are ones I want to start. It’s my birthday, so I make the rules for today! lol

Click on a cover to go to its Goodreads page!

  • Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins – I started by Hunger Games journey last year and haven’t continued yet. I’ve seen all of the movies and loved them, and so reading the first book was so interesting as an adult because I couldn’t get into it as an older teen. I was super hooked, though, and I want to continue it soon with Catching Fire.
  • Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor – I’m going to have to reread Strange the Dreamer at this point, but I never finished this duology even though I’ve owned it since it came out. Two books, and I never finished. SHAME! I loved the first book, so I don’t have an excuse.
  • Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas – I’m assuming by the time this post comes out that I’ll have reread Queen of Shadows and I’ll be on the tandem read of Empire of Storms and Tower of Dawn, but yes! I want to finish this series! I love it a lot and I forgot how much I love it, but I’m invested and can’t wait to finally finish it this year.
  • Words of Radiance by Brandon Sanderson – omg a male author on this list!? I feel like I never talk about them much, but I read The Way of Kings forever ago and never continued on despite really enjoying the first book. My wife’s read all of them this year, though she feels like she just kind of blew through them a bit too fast and doesn’t remember much at all. I’ll get to it eventually. They are behemoths of books.
  • Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros – Now, I enjoyed Fourth Wing, however, I was not having a good time with Iron Flame, but I do want to try my best to finish it and keep up with the series. However, if I can’t? Oh well, at least I tried.
  • When the Moon Hatched by Sarah A. Parker – The second book just came out and I haven’t read the first, but I want to because I’ve heard very good things about it and it sounds very unique and fascinating. Possibly heartbreaking? I don’t know, but it’s got dragons, so sign me up lol
  • Rain of Shadows and Endings by Melissa K. Roehrich – Apparently you can start anywhere in here universe and you’ll be fine, so I’m starting here. I got the whole series, which is four books, and I can tell I’m going to like it just based on the first page alone.
  • Malice by John Gwynne – I wanted to read this series forever ago, but still haven’t gotten around to it. For some reason I was convinced out of reading it ages ago, but now I’m invested again and have the whole series, so I hope I like it lol
  • The Children of Gods and Fighting Men by Shauna Lawless – I hear incredible things about this trilogy and the feminine rage within it, and really that was all I needed to hear to convince me to want to pick it up.
  • Jade City by Fonda Lee – Okay, so I technically already started this trilogy so I guess it belongs in the previous five listing, but I wanted to include it here because I didn’t get far into the first book, but I am super interested in continuing when I’m ready for it. It’s very much giving old Chinese mafia movie vibes.

And there you have it! My list of series I want to catch up on and start. I think this is a decent list, though I know there’s waaaay more that I could list. I’ll get to them all one day, even if my brain is like, “Read them all now!”

What series do you want to continue reading? Anything new caught your eye? Let me know in the comments!

I’m in the same boat as you when it comes to checking out The Hunger Games as an adult. I’ve been putting it off, but after seeing it mentioned so many times today I should finally start haha. I also liked the movies!

I need to continue only one series so far- only problem is all the books haven’t debuted. That is the Nevermoor series.

One of the authors on your series list is one I have a book by, but still haven’t read- Brandon Sanderson (Tress of the Emerald Tress is on my TBR list)

Happy Birthday! I feel so intimidated by Brandon Sanderson, yet I see his books everywhere… I may need to dip my toe in at some point. Great list!
