Welcome to another Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by Jana of That Artsy Reading Girl! This is a weekly fun discussion where we’re given a topic to discuss ten of whatever (usually) bookish things fits that list for that week.
This week’s topic is all about the books we’re anticipating for the upcoming second half of the year. Can you believe we’re already into July basically and the latter half of the year now? I can’t. This year is flying by, and before we know it we’re going to be in 2027.
I haven’t been keeping up much with what’s coming up in the latter half of the year with a few exceptions, so let’s jump into my list!
July

July 7th
Moss’d in Space by Rebecca Thorne – When my wife and I were at Rebecca’s book signing for her last book in her Tea series, she had told us about this upcoming book that was coming out, and so we of course preordered it as soon as we were able to. It’s coming out in early July, so we’re excited to read it!
July 14th
A Darker Shore: Letters from Ketterdam by Leigh Bardugo – This books follows an investigator years after the events of what happened in Crooked Kingdom, trying to piece together letters found written by Kaz and Inej, and probably the other Crows. Once I actually read Crooked Kingdom, you bet your butt I’m going to be reading this bad boy! It’s definitely a collector’s item, but one I’m excited for nonetheless. (And also have preordered lol)
August

August 18th (My birthday!)
I Punched An Alien and Now We’re in Couples Therapy by Kimberly Lemming – I love her titles so much. They make me laugh every time, and I genuinely love her sense of humor in the stories, too. I haven’t read the first book yet, but I know I’ll enjoy it. Still, I’m excited to pick this one up when it comes out! Her books are fun for a binge session, so I may just wait until it does so I can read them back to back.
September

September 1st
The Knave and the Moon by Rachel Gillig – I haven’t read the first book yet (shocker), but I’m still excited to get my hands on the sequel! I enjoyed the One Dark Window duology, so I’m betting I’m going to enjoy this one as well. I hear great things, so I have high hopes! Plus this cover is gorgeous.
September 8th
Tempest by Victoria Aveyard – I haven’t read a Victoria Aveyard book since Red Queen, but after watching her so excitedly talk about this book on TikTok for months, I couldn’t not support her and preorder this one.
October

October 6th
The Sixth Faction by Veronica Roth – A reimagining of Divergent where Tris doesn’t pick Dauntless?? I need to know what happens lol I think we’re all hella curious as to what Roth is doing with her own series, and I’m excited to get my hands on this one.
October 27th
ACOTAR 6 by Sarah J. Maas – One day, we will have a title and a cover reveal… I, like many others, am SUPER excited to get more from this world and these characters. They mean so much to me, and I cannot wait to read this one, and the following book coming in January. This is my MOST anticipated book of the year, if that comes as any surprise lol
November

November 3rd
The Last King of Faerie by Cassandra Clare – This is the first book in the last trilogy that will be coming out for the Shadowhunters world. Saying that sounds surreal, honestly. Though I haven’t finished all of the books in the overall world, I have read some of them up to this point and do plan on continuing to read them as time goes on.
December

December 1st
Rising Thunder by Neal Shusterman – This is the prequel novel to the Scythe series explaining how, exactly, everything happened and came to be in those novels, and though I haven’t read the original trilogy yet, I do plan on doing so and am still excited for this release!
My Unfamiliar by Mara Rutherford – This one just sounds cute, honestly, and this cover is to die for. Sometimes we just need some sweetness in our lives, and though I don’t generally gravitate towards cozy books, sometimes you just want something sweet, you know?
And there you have it! That’s my list of anticipated reads for the second half of the year. Finding some of these, especially for December, was a little tricky, but I managed to find lists that had the books on them and make my decisions based on that.
What are some of your most anticipated books for the second half of the year? Anything you’d recommend to me? Let me know in the comments!
