  • Bout of Books 14 Day 6

Today’s the last day of Bout of Books, which makes me sad, but it was super fun and I got a lot more reading done, in my opinion, than the last time. There will be one more post tomorrow to wrap up everything I’ve read and all of that, so keep an eye out for that.

As for day six, I was so close to NOT reading anything because I had been at a friend’s wedding earlier in the day that I was like, “You know what? I need to read at least something.” So I read a chapter in….

    • Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire: 12 pages

I was so happy to read the next chapter because this book is getting better, for sure.

As well as reading yesterday, I did participate in the challenge that took place, which was to plan a bookish road trip. The books I chose were:

    IMG_2223

    London: Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman
Atlanta: The Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews
Japan: Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden
    Scotland: Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
SPACE, the final frontier: These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner

Because why not space? Where would you want to travel?

Well, as it’s the last day and I’m still a busy bee, I’m going to try to see what I can read tonight and I’ll let you know my complete progress tomorrow!

Also, don’t forget about the giveaway I’m hosting! It ends on August 31st, so be sure to enter if you want to win!

  • Bout of Books 14 Day 5 + Giveaway! (CLOSED)

Hey peeps! Another day of Bout of Books has come and gone, and I almost didn’t read at all yesterday, but I managed to read a chapter in “Magic Bites” by Ilona Andrews, so yay for me!

So my reading progress yesterday was:

    • Magic Bites: 28 pages

Now though I’ve strayed away from my TBR for the readathon a little bit, I am still reading those other books, just… not right now.

I also participated in the challenge that took place, which was to ship two characters together from two different books. Here’s my “ship:”

    • Professor Umbridge from the Harry Potter series and Joffery Baratheon from A Game of Thrones.
    • Ship Name: Evil Incarnate
Reason: Now let me say this first: I do not ship them romantically. This ship is not a ship in the traditional sense, but rather a ship that is all about power and manipulation. You see, I loathe both of these characters from the very depths of my soul. They are both cruel and evil and they enjoy doing what they do that causes harm – emotionally, physically, or mentally – to those that that they wish to punish. With that being said, I ship them as like a grandmother/grandson type of thing where she oversees his actions and he rules the company. You know what I’m saying? They’d be the perfect evil power couple, even if both would be disgusted by the other.

Yup. I just couldn’t stop thinking about how evil this pair would be, so there you go.

Now I hope that you’re all having a good reading week as tomorrow is the last day of Bout of Books (though I’ll have two more update posts), but I also have something else in store for you all:

  • Bout of Books 14 Day 4

Late night update ahoy! So Bout of Books day four was slow, but I did manage to read a little bit.

    So what I read was:

    • The Final Empire: 19 pages

That was one chapter in the book, and even though it’s not a lot, at least I managed to get through some of it. I’m enjoying the book and the plot is becoming a lot more complicated and interesting, so I’m excited to see where it goes.

As far as the other books are concerned… yeah, I haven’t really picked them up much.

I also participated in the challenge that took place yesterday and it was to find four books that best represented the four seasons. Here’s what I came up with:

    IMG_2165

I had some left over craft items from my wedding and so I figured I’d represent and show the seasons in a much more visual way, and frankly, I love how it turned out.

Today’s reading hasn’t really happened as I’ve been wicked busy because some friends are getting married in the morning, so I don’t know how much reading I’ll get done the next day or so.

How is your reading progress coming along? Are you keeping up? Did you complete your goals already? Let me know!

  • Bout of Books 14 Day 3

Day 3 of Bout of Books has come and gone, and so far day four is going okay. I didn’t read anything on my TBR yesterday. In fact, what I read was:

    • Magic Bites: 45 pages

This is the first book in the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews and so far I’m enjoying it. I really wanted to start it since I just got it the other day.

But hey, at least I read 45 pages of it, which was about two chapters, I believe. I didn’t do my “one chapter per book” thing, though, so that was a bust.

Now, in terms of the challenge that took place yesterday, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to play bookish MASH. I LOVE DOING IT SO MUCH!

    So, here are my results:

    IMG_2164

In case you can’t read what it says: I’m living in a MANSION with WARNER in the REESTABLISHMENT as an ASSASSIN with ONE KID and an OWL. We enjoy using our WINGS to get around places.

I think doing book MASH is always super fun and it’s always like I’m reliving part of my childhood whenever I play the game.

How has your reading time been going? Mine’s been off and on, but I’m enjoying what I’m reading when I read it, so that’s always a plus, right?

  • Bout of Books 14 Day 2

So yesterday (Tuesday) was day two for Bout of Books, and I didn’t really read that much because, well, it was my birthday and I was busy all day. Heck, I’m going to be busy all day today, too, but I’m going to try to find time to read a bit.

My progress yesterday consisted of this:

    • The Final Empire: 0 pages
    • Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire: 0 pages
    • A Thousand Pieces of You: 0 pages
    • A Game of Thrones: 10 pages
    • Forbidden: 18 pages (this wasn’t on my TBR for this readathon, but I wanted to start reading it to see what it’s about)

So I read a total of 28 pages, which was two chapters between two books. Not too bad. At least I’m keeping with my goal to read at least one chapter from each book I read. So yay for that!

I’m finding that reading multiple books at the same time is 1) nice in a way because I can read more and get books done (sort of) faster, but I also find that 2) I don’t really remember a lot from what I read previously. I mean, I can remember more as I read more into the next chapter or skim the last few sentences of the previous chapter, but I’m using this as a test run to see if I want to just be a “one book at a time” reader or a “multi-book at a time” reader.

Also I participated in the challenge that took place yesterday, which was like a form of a book scavenger hunt. What we had to do was:

    1. Find a book that begins with “B” (for mine I chose “Blood Promise” by Richelle Mead)
    2. A book you’re planning to read/currently reading for Bout of Books (for this it’s, well, A Game of Thrones, HP & the Goblet of Fire, and The Final Empire)
    3. Blue Book(s) (heheheh…heh.. yeah, that’s not even all of my blue books)
    4. Books from your favorite genre (my fave is fantasy, and there’s a few in there)
    5. A book on your TBR shelf, or your full TBR shelf (I put “Days of Blood and Starlight” by Laini Taylor at the top, but almost all of the blue books are on my TBR)

I was crying on the inside because I was afraid my stack of babies was going to fall over.

So, yeah! That’s my Bout of Books day 2 update. I’m enjoying this round of the readathon, for sure, and I’m excited to keep going and to keep on participating in the challenges and whatnot.

How’s your reading coming along? Have you participated in any of the challenges? Do you read multiple books at once, or are you a one book at a time reader? Let me know!
