Welcome to another Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by Jana of That Artsy Reader Girl! Today’s topic is about covers we think have pretty/unique/cool/etc. typography, so here’s my picks for the week! I figured I’d change it a little bit and pick books whose typography fit the overall vibe of the cover. Since I haven’t read any of these yet, we’re going based purely on design and overall feel!

I think that each of these covers speaks to what the content inside contains, and the typography, especially, can help to enhance what the author and designers are trying to convey.

For instance, how the Dungeon Crawler Carl type is powerful and punchy! Knowing it’s a lit-RPG with a lot of death, high stakes, and trying to survive, this makes a lot of sense design wise.

As for The Rose Bargain, it’s very elegant and has grace, but then the type becomes straight and rigid, much like the thorns along the stems.

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue conveys delicacy and desire, the want for something more, while the typography of Gideon the Ninth is rough and almost violent.

The Hurricane Wars is simple, but there’s curves and waves in many of its letters, much like in a hurricane, reflecting those waves.

The Jasad Heir feels older, embossed, like it belongs on the wall in which the statue below it sits in front of.

The Second Death of Locke feels like it was made to reflect the knight of medieval times, written in an olde type of script, which the font of Never Ever After, though a more negative leaning title, is carefully and gracefully designed.

Lightlark is pretty, I will admit, and that’s primarily why I chose it, but there’s also an heir of mystery and something more lying under the surface. And this Owlcrate version of The Graceless Heart is just gorgeous, so I really couldn’t pass up showing it off, if I’m being honest.
