Beautiful Covers: Green

Hey peeps, welcome to another Beautiful Covers! I’m working my way through the rainbow, so check out the rest of the colors when they come out over the next several weeks!

Today’s color is: green!

Green is a lovely color, and it’s my best friend’s favorite color (specifically lime green), so I’ve seen a lot of it in my life in many ways. Green covers are not exception, but it’s still hard to think of and find green covers of books I’ve read or will be reading eventually! So, here are my top five favorites:

1 . Morrighan by Mary E. Pearson

morrighan

I love the rich earth on this cover with the little dash of color from the flower. It really hints to the importance of the place where the characters are in the novella and I think that even though it’s kind of simple, it’s really elegant and beautiful. Plus, that typography is amazing.

2. Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi

igniteme

I love these covers so much, and I think that this one is definitely my favorite. It reminds me of flames, and I think that that punch of color agains the green of it all really makes it stand out. I think it also alludes to the change in Juliette because WOW her character arc is amazing!

3. The Iron King by Julie Kagawa

theironking

I’ve always loved these colors for their swirly, thorny vines, the typography, and even the novels. The colors used on each cover is really pretty and I think that they make lovely accent to frame the model.

4. Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas

heiroffire

All of these covers are epic and I think that this dynamic pose of Celaena is really cool. I love the bright and dark green combination and how even Celaena is wearing green. It’s a very beautiful color and it’s really powerful here.

5. Splintered by A.G. Howard

splintered

I haven’t read this book yet, but it’s on my shelf, and I think that’s it’s beautiful! The model is very doll like and cute as Alice, and the green vines that surround her I’m sure allude to what happens in the story – at least some element. I think that it all is very Wonderland-esque.

So there you have it for this week’s beautiful covers edition! What are some of your favorite green covers? Let me know!

Beautiful Covers: Pink

Hey peeps, welcome to another Beautiful Covers! I’m working my way through the rainbow, so check out the rest of the colors when they come out over the next several weeks!

Today’s color is: pink!

Pink is my favorite color, and because of that I am simply just drawn to covers with pink on them. But they have to be the right shade of pink, not that gaudy, awful purple-pink that people think is pink but is really just a bright violet-fuscia color. Yeah. You know what I’m talking about.

I actually don’t own a lot of books with pink on the cover as the primary color, which makes me sad! But I do have enough to make this list, so here are five of my favorite pink covers:

1 . Fushigi Yuugi: vol 1 Priestess by Yuu Watase

fushigiyuugi1

As this is my favorite manga series of all time, I couldn’t not include this in my list. There are so many beautiful covers, and even a few that have a lot of pink in them, but I love this first volume cover. It shows the main character, Tamahome and Miaka, and it kind of shows a glimpse into what goes on in the story. It’s beautiful and I absolutely love the art style.

2. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell (collector’s edition from Target)

fangirlpink

Fangirl was one of my favorite reads of 2014, and so I was so excited when the collector’s editions came out and one of them was pink! I had to have the pink one. Had to. So I got it and I love it and it’s beautiful simplicity. I love Levi and Cath on the cover and how the typography is simple, but clean. It’s just a beautiful cover, in my opinion, because of the simpleness.

3. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

annaandthefrenchkiss

I can finally say that I’ve read this book! And by the way, the covers for this trilogy companion series are beautiful! Look at that cover! The Eiffel Tower! The typography! The pink sunset kind of thing going on! This is simply beautiful, plus it has a nice texture. Love it.

4. Chobits vol. 6 by CLAMP

chobits6

Was I not serious when I said last week with the yellow covers that these covers of Chobits are gorgeous? LOOK AT HER DRESS. THE CURTAIN. THE EVERYTHING. I love this cover, as I do all the covers for this series, but as pink is my favorite color I’m going to have to say that this one is probably my favorite.

5. This Shattered World by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner

thisshatteredworld

Okay, this entire trilogy is beyond gorgeous, and though most of this one is orange I’m still counting it as pink because there are various shades of it, not just in that one corner. LOOK AT THEM FLOATING MAJESTICLY. Look at the stars and the way the nebula makes them stand out. The typography is sleek and crisp. The models do a wonderful job portraying the characters they’re supposed to look like in the story. Just… yes. I’m melting.

So there you have it for this week’s Beautiful Covers! I’m loving this series because it not only lets me share such amazing covers, but it also lets me stare at them for as long as I want while I’m writing the post, hahaha!

What are some of your favorite pink covers? What do you think of my selection? Let me know!

Beautiful Covers: Yellow

Hey peeps, welcome to another Beautiful Covers! I’m working my way through the rainbow, so check out the rest of the colors when they come out over the next several weeks!

Today’s color is: yellow!

Yellow is a very bright color, one that reminds me of sunshine (and blinding light) and happy thoughts. I don’t know about you, but I really like the color yellow.

Now, I just realized that I haven’t read a lot of books that had a lot of yellow on them, but that’s not going to stop me from picking ones that have snippets of yellow, at least!

So here are five of my favorite yellow covers:

1 . Uprooted by Naomi Novik

uprooted

I love the art style on this cover and how it looks olden timey and very antique. The yellow and gold tones really bring out the darker colors of the characters and I think that it really shows whimsy for this story.

2. Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

carryon

I love the simple outline and stark contrast between the blue and yellow on this book. I think that even though it’s simple it’s still an awesome concept and that it really encompasses what the book is about: two boys, very different from one another, but somehow connected.

3. Dreams of Gods & Monsters by Laini Taylor

dreamsofgodsandmonsters

This is my favorite cover of the trilogy because it is just sheer beauty and wonder. The typography is gorgeous and bold, and then the splashes of color? Perfect. It really shows the fierceness of Karou, the main character, and the horns are symbolic to what’s going on in the book. Love it.

4. An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

anemberintheashes

Okay, this cover is just amazing. If you look in the bottom corner, there’s a person standing there looking up at the person standing in the H in Ashes. And then the buildings up top? It’s how it’s described in the book and I love that. Plus the pops of gold and yellow and brown really make it seem rustic and old and timeless.

5. Chobits vol. 4 by CLAMP

chobits4

Anything made by CLAMP is beautiful, in my opinion, but I love this cover! It’s bright and showcases one of my favorite characters: Chi. Well, every cover has her on it, but still. The yellow flowers are really vivid and draw your eye, and then Chi stands out in her white, but also tailors to the yellow with the dark ribbons on her. Lovely.

So there you have it! This week’s color and some of my favorite covers associated with that color. Yellow was actually extremely hard and I really had to dig into books I’ve read or will read for books that had a lot of yellow on them.

What are some of your favorite yellow covered books? Do you agree with my choices? Let me know some of your favorites!

Beautiful Covers: Blue

Hey guys, so I wanted to do a new series where I talk about some of my favorite book covers and show some love to these beautiful books.

We all have our favorite covers and we hate it when a book gets remade into something a bit more lackluster, and so I wanted to go through the rainbow and share with you all some of my favorites from books I’ve read or will be reading soon.

My list will consist of colors that have the color of the day encompassing the majority of the cover; I’m thinking at least 75% of the cover OR it has to be a standout color, like a pop of color that draws your eyes in.

Today’s color: Blue

Blue is a very relaxing and calming color, and it’s a lot of peoples’ favorite color. It can mean the difference between a clear sky and an oncoming storm, or symbolize sadness and grief.

Here are my top five favorite blue covers:

1 . Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo

siegeandstorm

I purposely picked up this copy at Barnes and Noble one day because of the colors. I had seen the hardcover version before, but I absolutely loved the colors in this one. The blue allows the red castle to really stand out, but the typography is simply gorgeous. Though I haven’t read it yet, I’m excited to, and the cover really helps with the excitement.

2. The Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J. Maas

theassassinsblade

Though Celaena may encompass the majority of the cover as the focal point, the background that she’s against is simply stunning. The different shades of blue and white really help to show the intensity of the character on the cover and make it seem like she’s glowing. I love these colors so much.

3. These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner

thesebrokenstars

This is one of my favorite covers of ever (and don’t be surprised when the rest of the trilogy makes an appearance). Not only is the typography clean and large, the models on the cover beautiful and totally encompassing the main characters in the book, but THAT BACKGROUND. It’s gorgeous! I love that this is a sci-fi novel and how that is really explained just by looking at the cover. The stars are beautiful and really showcase the characters.

4. Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi

unravelme

I love all of the redesigned covers, for sure, and this is my favorite of the two bluer covers for the trilogy. I love the simple eye design, but how the artist really took it to a new level to show the freezing of the eyelashes, the clouds in the sky, and the bird in the iris. Everything about this cover is beautiful – even the typography. Simply stunning.

5. The Selection by Keira Cass

theselection

As I was looking at covers to choose from, I almost completely forgot about this series and its covers. They’re gorgeous! I’m pretty sure anyone who loves to wear dresses is envious that they weren’t able to wear this gown, because I know I’m one of them. I love how the dress is such a focal point because they are a big part of the series. Plus the pose of the model is nice.

And those are five of my favorite blue covers! I’m sure that there’s more to choose from, but these were the ones that stood out above the rest.

What are some of your favorite blue covers? Do you agree with my choices? Let me know some of your favorites and why you love them!
