The Book Drop April 2016 Unboxing

Hey guys! Here’s another unboxing from The Book Drop. As it says on the website:

The Book Drop is our very own monthly subscription box service. What does this mean? This means once a month we hand-select one of our favorite new books based on your reading preferences, package it up all nice and cute in a box and send it your way! Book Drop subscribers get a book delivered to their doorstep (or mailbox) once a month from Bethany Beach Books.

So I’m subscribed to the Jane box which includes:

  • Paperback book (usually a contemporary or historical fiction novel, with the occasional literary fiction novel)
  • Indie Next list for the upcoming month
  • An occasional goodie

This month has a book that I’m actually pretty intrigued about! I’ve never heard of it before but it definitely seems like one up my alley.

It came with:

The note says,

A Dictionary of Mutual Understanding was a recent book club pick for us and our group had one of the best discussions about this book! This is an extraordinary novel of family, loyalty, and love. It’s a novel about women and about how far we’ll go to protect those we love and cherish. Included you’ll also find a signed bookplate from Jackie Copleton. Happy Reading! Enjoy! Love, AZ

It’s a book that reflects back on life and love, and how hard life can be sometimes. I’m excited to read it because I love reading about books of people from other cultures, as well as ones that dive into the past like that.

Have you read this book? What did you think about it? Do you receive any book subscription boxes that you think I should check out? Let me know!

March Uppercase Box Unboxing

Hey peeps, I’m here with another Uppercase Box unboxing for you! If you don’t know what Uppercase is, as it says on the website, it’s “a young adult book-of-the-month subscription box. Simply put: You sign up and receive a recently published YA book and awesome book-related items every month! Plus you’ll access exclusive book content and a one-of-a-kind reading experience to dive deeper into each story.”

So this month was a cool box because I had thought about getting this book in store, but I’m glad I didn’t because it showed up in the package!

Here’s what it looked like:

As you can see, the box included:

And of course it came with the reading experience bookmark where you can participate in some fun things through Uppercase for the book that month.

I already have the magnet up on my fridge and I’m currently wearing the earrings. One of my coworkers actually complimented me today and said that she really liked them. She then proceeded to ask: “What’s the quote? Your face?” And I just nodded and framed my face with my hands and she laughed.

All in all, I really like this month’s box! I definitely love the earrings the most, but I am also excited to read the book!

What do you think of this month’s box? Have you/will you read the book? Are you signed up for any book subscription boxes? Let me know!

The Book Drop March Subscription Box

Hey guys! So I signed up for another book subscription box, but this one is from The Book Drop.

I chose this box in particular because it allows me to receive books outside of the normal genre that I’ve been reading lately and it also allows me to receive books that I’d otherwise never pick up on my own. So for this month I’m actually really excited for the book that was in the box.

Here’s how the box came:

It was a long box that was sealed to the teeth, so cutting it open was kind of difficult. BUT! Once I did manage to open it, here’s what was inside:

The items that I received were:

  • May the Road Rise Up to Meet You by Peter Troy.
  • A Celtic magnetic bookmark (that matches the book in terms of one of the character’s origin).
  • A little note about the book and why it was chosen.
  • An Indie Next book list for the upcoming month.

As the note states,

“‘Set against the dramatic backdrop of the Civil War, May the Road Rise Up to Meet You is a story of four unforgettable characters who illuminate the quintessential American experience.’ I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it’s one of my favorites. Despite being published a few years ago, it’s still one of the my go-to staff recommendations when customers come in looking for a good book. We also included a little magnetic Celtic bookmark! Happy reading!! Love, AZ”

And then when I read the rest of the synopsis I became intrigued and interested in reading it. As I haven’t read many books based around the Civil War era, I’m interested to see this take on it and how it plays out.

Overall, my first box from Bethany Beach Books (aka, The Book Drop) was a fun one and I’m excited to see what the next month will bring.

Have you ever received a box from The Book Drop? Have you read this book? If so, what are your thoughts? Let me know!

February Uppercase Box Unboxing

Hey peeps! So I just got my first book box subscription in the mail and I was too excited to make a video, but I figured I’d at least make a blog post about it! I’m expecting another subscription box next week, I believe, or the week after, so look forward to that!

This box is the February Uppercase Box subscription!

As this was my first box, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I’ve watched various unboxing videos before [here, here, here], but I’ve never really done one myself except for when I received the Mistborn trilogy.

But this was such a cool box! Here’s a fun little photo recap of what I got in the box:

IMG_2592 (1) The box itself was actually a bag! But it’s a cute bag!

Here’s an overview of what I got in the box:

So here’s what was in the box:

  • A personalized note to me.
  • Two bookmarks, one having to do with the book, the other with codes relating to the book, too.
  • Nail wraps that represent the book.
  • A poster with a quote from the book.
  • An Anne of Green Gables infinity scarf (so cool!).
  • A signed edition of Starflight by Melissa Landers.

Each is really cool and in good condition. I’ve heard of the book and I’m interested in reading it, but I don’t think I would’ve picked it up on my own, so yay for that! Also, I got wicked into scarves recently, so the scarf is right up my alley.

So yeah, that’s the February box for Uppercase Box!

Have you ever gotten a book subscription box? What was your favorite book you’ve received from one? Do you get Uppercase? Let me know!

Fall Time Book Haul

I haven’t done a haul since August. Wow. Well, I don’t think I’ve accumulated that many books, but then again, Christmas did just happen, sooooo… Yeah. Books.

Let’s get into it, shall we? These aren’t going to be in the order in which I got them, but they are from September until now.

Physical Books

  • The Raven Boys cycle, 1-3, by Maggie Steifvater. Okay, technically I’ll be getting the paperback version of the third book tomorrow, but close enough. And it will be hauled in December, so there.
  • Uprooted by Naomi Novik. This was a book highly recommend by Sam of ThoughtsonTomes, so I really wanted to check it out. Fantasy, romance, political plots, oh my!
  • The Amazing Book is Not On Fire by Dan Howell and Phil Lester. I am a phan. I cannot help it. I also only discovered them right around the time their book came out in America, so this was just kind of like it was meant to be.
  • Binge by Tyler Oakley. I’ve been following him for several months on Youtube, and I do find him to be funny and weird and goofy, so I thought I’d give his book a go. And it’s a lot heavier than you’d expect (high quality paper).
  • The Fever series, books 1-3, by Karen Marie Moning. A series that Sarah Jane from TheBookLife loves to pieces, and several other Booktubers gush over, so I had to give it a go. Plus, faeries. I’m in.
  • Their Fractured Light by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner. I LOVE THIS COVER. And this book. I just. It’s amazing. Go read it and check out my review before you do.
  • Frozen Tides by Morgan Rhodes. This is the fourth installment in this six book series, and I am really digging this cover! It’s definitely my favorite cover out of all of them, and though I haven’t read the third book yet, I’ll definitely get to these two soon.
  • Carry On and Landline by Rainbow Rowell. I love Rainbow’s books! She’s seriously amazing and I just can’t wait to read these ones by her. I now own all of her works that are published, woo!
  • Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon. This book was so sweet and so filled with the need and desire to experience things before you realize what you’ve missed out on. Check out my review for more on what I thought.
  • Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas. If you didn’t see my gigantic review post on this book, where have you been? I obviously got this the day it came out and loved it to pieces.

Audiobooks

eBooks

Well, 22 books over four months isn’t horrible, right? Right. I’m actually kind of surprised this was all I got. Maybe I got more, but I honestly can’t remember, haha!

What books did you get for the holidays? Any you plan on getting soon in the new year? Let me know!
